Our "BrainPOP" Journals!
Our BrainPOP journals will be used to answer prompts, take notes, and
make connections following each BrainPOP video viewing. The characters in the
videos (Tim the student and Moby the robot) make learning come alive!
What is BrainPOP?
BrainPOP is an educational site focused on introducing
children (of all ages!) to a variety of topics through short animated
videos. Subjects include English, Math, Social Studies, Science,
Engineering & Technology, History, Arts & Music, and Health.
These videos range from two to five minutes in length, and
are structured to make learning engaging, in depth, and fun!
Students are using them in class as a way to build on vocabulary,
"working memory," and comprehension skills; note-taking strategies;
test-taking practice through built-in quizzes; and as a resource for choosing
future research topics. BrainPOP will be used to support student learning in
the areas of nonfiction reading and writing skills throughout the year.
Access to these videos is through Molly's subscription to the site,
but a free "Featured Movie" is posted daily.
