Gems and Jewels!

After the Folk Life Center, we went on to visit Jack's
dad at his jewelry store.  We saw some beautiful diamonds,
amethysts, emeralds, aquamarine, zircon, and more!
We learned what a "gemologist" is!  And what are
those special glasses for?  At the end, Jack's dad
gave us each a beautiful gem!
Thank you, John!

Third Grade Tailors!

First, pinning is important!

Then on to the sewing machine.  Third graders were amazing
sewers.  They handled the sewing machine as though they had
always used one!
What they made - is a surprise!
Can't tell yet!

Love that snow!

No steps needed for this field trip crew!

Pet Rocks and Pebble Pets! Part 1

Just for fun, as part of the geology unit, third graders
created their own pet rock environments.  They spent today's
two cold recesses indoors creating - and create they did!
Check out some of the beginnings of their creations!
Oh yes, and thanks for the shoe boxes!

Kate was in today.  She brought in cupcakes and third graders
were only too happy to help her celebrate her birthday!
